The Beginning

So this is my first post. More of a test to see how it works really. Anyway welcome to my blog.

I don't really know much about blogs or what makes a good one to be honest, I've only ever read a couple of blogs ( http://www.badscience.net/ and http://resonaances.blogspot.com/) and I have no idea what people mean when they talk about the blogosphere . Hopefully I will just write stuff and someone, somewhere will find it interesting.

The title is a bit misleading since the most likely drug involved will be caffeine or perhaps, on occasion, alcohol. I don't really have time in my life anymore to take more interesting drugs, but I miss them and it makes me sad that there isn't enough time in our short lives to experience and understand everything.

I am a theoretical particle physicist working as a postdoc at a university in Germany and occasionally I may describe what motivates me or the research I'm doing or interested in, but I doubt many entries will be about that, as there are other people who already do that very well, and I don't want to bore my friends who will probably be the only readers. I mostly plan to just write about whatever I feel like, and I usually want to write stuff down when I'm angry, so expect lots of ill-considered and offensive rants.

I frequently get annoyed by politics, bad science writing, films, books and people I meet. So expect rants on all of them. In fact almost everything pisses me so the topics will be pretty wide. I'm really into music, especially heavy metal and sometimes play poker in my spare time so they might also get discussed.

Oh and I lied about only having ever reading two blogs because theres also this one, which I sort of stole my title from: http://acbarone.blogspot.com/.
